Post by mm0fmfI find it excellent to see a pair of trolls going at each other. Of
course it's not like Jim has form with his dodgy dealings on eBay and
selling cars which he knew were MOT failures.
Back in the olden days, I would troll rec.radio.amateur
endlessly. One of my faves was when there was a thread about
operating air mobile om commercial aircraft. The consensus of the
geezers was that planes are delicate and if you transmitted from
one, the avionics would fail and people would die. So I asked if
FM was a no-no, would CW be OK? The howls could be heard across
the land.
Then Brian Kantor (Who dat?) chimed in and told me not
troll the idiots.
Usenet in its heyday was full of people trolling, some
were masters at it, Geoff Miller comes to mind.
It was the perfect troll in the old and original meaning as in
trolling to fish, and we would talk about the trolled jumping
into the boat.
So, the meaning of troll has cahnged from, catching the
unwary to just being disruptive, I blame eternal September.

The trying to sell me something via e-bay without saying
outright that he was the seller is somewhat frifty behaviour.
Why e-bay? Selling to me via an alias on e-bay while
paying e-bay's commision is highly suspicious. It the item
stolen? Is it defective? After all e-bay is known as a theives
market and many have bad experiences with e-bay purchases. My
wife for example bought a rock tumbler on e-bay, it had leaky
seals and a clapped out motor.
It seems that Jim, is a junk monger who has trouble
making a straight deal.
Well, now I know who can't be trusted where purchasing is
concerned.
