Any one know where I could find some??
Total wild guess here, but how about one of the big online retailers
like RS, Farnell or CPC maybe?

What is the PA transistor that the 706 uses?

From memory, they have custom part numbers, so it can be difficult to find
what the generic type is. Something like a M/A Com DU1260T might suit
($180 ea. from Richardson Electronics). Have you tried Icom?

Hi,

There was some comment on the 706 user group about these transistors
a few weeks ago.
ICOM have them for there own use, it said.

Someone out EAST replied saying they had stocks of the correct transistors.

I replied to purchase some.

I asked for 1 off
100 off
500 off prices.

But no reply at all.

Maybe look to the Yahoo 706 user group.
There are a few so you will have to look at them all.
But no longer that 3/4 weeks ago.
If I find it I will post again.

<consipiracy theory>
Let's see... perhaps if we cut off all spares for the 706 series then
everyone will rush out and buy an IC-7000 to replace it.
</conspiracy theory>

don't.Icom does have a stock of the old transistors. They won't ordinarily
sellthem to end users, they are for thier own repair department only. I
managedto finally convince Icom to sell me a set for my
"fixer-upper" MKiiG, so Iactually have them in hand now. I
wouldn't expect anyone else to have thesame luck.I was also told by a
technician that repairs Icom that it was recommended tohim that the bias be
reduced by 50%. I'm thinking that this was a measureintended to improve
reliability.73,-Jim--TR7/RV7, TR6/RV6, T4XC/R4C, L4B, NCL2000, SB104A,
