I first get alerted to the fact that it's the weekend again when I'm
sitting on the bog, and multitasking doing my normal few minutes of
SWLing on 40m. The immediate giveaway is that the otherwise frequently
dead band (because propagation is so poor at the moment) is absolutely
heaving with S9+40dB signals, with everyone shouting strange things like
"59 1234 please repeat your call".

It's just as these days that I'm retired, and also not very active. If I
WAS still as keen as I used to be, and still working, I'd be feeling
pretty miffed about being frequently deprived of so much 'normal'
operating time to do what radio amateurs once used to do - ie having
proper QSOs with other proper amateurs.
